We are starting to see buds on trees. The first crocuses, and daffodils poking their heads above the earth and flowering. Yet we are still clearly not out of winter months yet. In much of North America and Canada there is still snow. In the UK, it is raining and wet and cold. It always strikes me that nature gives us a mirror for what can help us navigate through any moment of the year. I look at these buds and flowers and wonder at their resilience. Their patience and strength in waiting for Spring to properly arrive, and bring this change of season we all need. And it makes me think of how important resilience is to all of us at this time.
The definition of Resilience is "the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness".
We have all been weathering the storm of global change and our own inner storms as we move through a winter that is requiring us to draw on our reserves of strength and the resources we use to cope with unknown daily stresses and challenges. For a while, resilience was (and still is) a buzz word in many different spaces. Resilient futures for businesses. Resilient employees. Resilient minds. We all need this resilience more than ever, as we are being challenged to live in different ways with the ongoing effects of the pandemic, and as we see lives in Ukraine, Afghanistan, and other parts of the world being tested to their limits. Healthy and supported coping mechanisms are more important than ever.
This March we look at how we can create resilience
in our bodies, minds and spirits.
How we can keep ourselves inspired, looking forward, and with a lightness of spirit so that we can welcome spring with space for what is new. How we can be clear vessels for our lives.

A couple of tips to support you as you transition through the season:
Purify your body. Take steps to physically support your body and your practices this month, by eliminating toxins from your diet (e.g. sugar and refined foods) and focussing on whole, home-cooked foods. The liver and gallbladder are the organs associated with Spring, and both are responsible for removing toxins from the body. You can support these organs with greens, wheatgrass, sprouts, and herbs. Dandelion, peppermint, and nettle will keep you feeling light and buoyant.
Purify your home. Clear and cleanse your home of anything that is not in alignment with you right now - from books, to clothes, to every item in your home that no longer resonates with you. Purging what no longer serves you at home, in work, in relationship, and in habits is what this month and season calls for.
