Group Breathwork for Discipline and Commitment : In-Person and Online

May Breathwork for Discipline and Commitment .jpeg

Special Event

This month is a special month where our breathwork session will be in collaboration with SPARK, a Centre for Conscious Personal Development, in Zurich, Switzerland. SPARK will host their community who attend the event in person, and they will join us on-line as a group. Let’s see what magic we can create!

Discipline and Commitment

When we think about discipline, we usually think of the things that we should do because they are good for us - like exercise, and the little things we need to do to meet that deadline, and reading, and listening to informative newscasts, or watching documentaries that make us think and question. We think about the things that we need to do in order to fulfil a commitment.

What then, is the commitment (and promise to yourself) that you are making that requires discipline?

Often, we think of discipline as something that is a bit punishing (we push through the resistance to doing the task or activity we need to accomplish through discipline), but it's worth it because of the end result.

What is discipline to you?

Is it that you are doing something you would like to do, and making sure that you follow through with it?

Or is it doing something you don't want to do, but you know it is good for you, so you oblige yourself to do it anyway?

I always think of discipline through the lens of "being a disciple" to something (and I mean this in a secular context). If you are a disciple to something, you bring a sacredness to the actions that you take to fulfil your commitment to yourself or another. You bring in an aspect of dedicated studentship, a lens of always being the student...the one who seeks knowledge...the one who learns. You bring in this aspect of being committed to something and being disciplined to it (a disciple to it) while allowing a reverence for it. The energetic quality underlying the discipline then becomes one of joy, expansion, and motivation rather than punishment, diminution, and requiring yourself to struggle through something.

What are you committed to, and a disciple of?

LOVE : KINDNESS : COMPASSION :

YOUR HEALTH : YOUR WELLBEING :

YOUR PARTNER : YOUR CHILDREN :

YOUR WORK ?

The focus of this session is ‘discipline’ (in the sense of being a disciple to something), and commitment. We explore how making discipline and commitment sacred can help deepen your practice and bring a quality of reverence and joy to everything that you do.

Breathwork Healing…

Breathwork takes you on a journey to find and reclaim yourself. In other words, it allows you to get out of your busy mind, experience release and come into stillness and clarity.

How it works: Breathwork is an activating meditation technique that uses your breath to release the body’s stored emotions, hurts, traumas, fears, anxieties, grief and shame.

Breathwork connects us to our innate ability to change the environment of our cells, to disrupt the thought patterns that no longer serve us, therefore giving us access to and responsibility over our ability to heal and change ourselves and our lives. Like water moving downstream dislodges rocks, stones and mud along the banks of the river, similarly, the breath moves (and sometimes roars) through our bodies, loosening and dislodging the old stuck debris of emotion, patterns, doubts, and anything else that is ready to move out of our systems – bringing greater clarity and calm in it’s wake.

What we offer: We will be together for 90 minutes. This Breathwork is done laying down on a yoga mat in comfortable cloths. and a blanket are ideal to make the experience more comfortable. An eye pillow or scarf can help you to go inwards if you find that light coming through your closed eyelids distracts you.

You may also wish to bring a notebook and a pen, in case you receive any insights you would like to record.

If you join in-person: we will provide blankets and yoga mats. Please bring an eye pillow or scarf (optional), notebook, pen and a water bottle.

If you join online: make yourself a nice cozy, comfortable, and quiet place to lie down. Please ensure that you will not be disturbed during the session (it helps to turn phones off).

While setting up your space, please keep in mind that set the camera so that we can see your face, your belly and your chest while you are breathing. If you do not feel comfortable keeping your video on, that is fine too.

Ensure a comfortable room temperature. Extra blankets and an eye pillow can be helpful extras, as the body can go through varied temperatures while you are breathing. I particularly recommend extra blankets if you are sensitive to cold.

An eye pillow or scarf can help you to go inwards if you find that light coming through your closed eyelids distracts you.

Please keep a glass (or two) of water to hand. This can help ground the body if needed after the Breathwork. You may also be hungry afterwards, so have a snack to hand!

Feel free to set your space and environment up in any sacred way you’d like (e.g. candles, or any crystals or stones that are meaningful or sacred to you).

Who is it for? Suitable for all levels.

If you have never done this before, don’t worry, we’ll take you through anything else you need to know at the start of our session. You can also contact us with any questions you have beforehand.
